Activities/Demonstrations

Perennial Sale - Sidewalk between Mansion House and Courthouse. Pay inside Mansion House.  All plant donations appreciated. Money to be used to maintain the Mansion House.

Quilter's Flea Market inside Mansion House. All donations of patterns, magazines, fabric, craft-related books, etc., appreciated. Money to be used for charity.

Mary Ann Paxton, owner of The Country Store in Liberty, will have her hand-made quilt racks and other quilting-related items for sale inside the Mansion House. If you need a rack for that special quilt be sure and see what Mary has made.

We will also be accepting 12 ½" blocks for Quilt Pink. This is the breast cancer research project. We will have information on Quilts of Valor if anyone is interested.

We found the quilt frame and have a quilt to be hand-quilted during the show. Call Myra Baldwin at 977-5605 for a time to quilt. You can also email her at myrabaldwin@netzero.net.

In the Courthouse:  (Fill out the registration form for all workshops whether or not there is a fee so we know how many to expect.) Deadline for registration - August 20, 2008

Friday  2:30 p.m.  Elizabeth Warvel of Show ‘N Tell Ceramics in Hagerstown will lead a workshop/demonstration. Registration fee is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and includes all supplies and instruction. There will be a choice of items to finish and take home with you. This workshop is open to all ages so register yourself and someone else (even pre-schoolers). It will be fun and you will learn something.

Saturday  9 a.m. - 10 a.m.  Ever heard of Naal Binding? Well it's time to learn how to make rugs, placemats, coasters, etc., using this method. The $15 fee includes the tool needed for these projects, the 1 ½" fabric strips to get started, and the instruction. It's easy and fun to do. Jennifer Link will show you how to start to get the shape you want, how to join the strips of fabric, and then finish off the ending.

Sunday  1 p.m.  Nancy Burkhardt, owner of Nancy's Fancys in Richmond, will be demonstrating how to make a memory quilt from athletic t-shirts (or any t-shirts). If there is an athlete in the family old or young, what a gift - so start collecting those t-shirts and come for Nancy's session where she will show you how to put them all together to make quite a keepsake for some lucky loved one. There is no fee but please register so we know how many chairs to set up.
